For the street light monitoring system, we have a patent. The function of street lights in our daily life is crucial. It is inevitable that we will leave our houses for a variety of reasons. Since there won't be any sunshine after sunset, street lights are necessary after 6 p.m. Over the past ten years, there have been numerous modifications made to the street light system, such as the switch from conventional to halogen and finally LED bulbs, as well as the addition of solar-powered lights. People have benefited from these since they provide the necessary amount of light. The electricity needed to run the lights is generated, primarily, from coal and other natural resources. Coal is used to generate about 80% of the power (thermal energy). Therefore, when street lights are turned on unexpectedly or at inappropriate locations.
Electricity is utilized at homes, offices, factories, almost everywhere. If we consider the street lighting system, the government has a separate branch or department for it, either in the form of a society or a separate group of personnel looking after various things like switching the lights on & off, maintenance etc.
In spite of doing all this we many a times observe that the street lights are on even during the broad day light. And it’s not just one or two lights that remain on, if we could calculate, it would be thousands of such lights. So even the loss is very huge. Similarly, if one street light doesn’t work in an area we can understand and adjust according to the situation. But if many don’t work or if all the street lights in an area don’t work, then it’s again a problem. Many experiments have been done and many different equipment were brought to curtail such problems but in vain. This experiment of ours is a trial to tackle the problem.
Our main intention in this experiment is to see that electricity is not wasted. It’s impossible to attain a complete solution by using all the electric equipment as usual. We could achieve it by utilizing the modern scientific knowledge.
